Did you know…
51% of kids between the ages of 5-11 have at least one cavity. If left untreated, cavities can lead to further complications like tooth infections.
At Memorial Children’s Dentistry, we focus on prevention, comfort, and long-term smile protection for children. Our board-certified pediatric dentists carefully check your child’s teeth and recommend dental sealants when they can help protect cavity-prone molars.
We make the sealant process simple, quick, and kid-friendly. With no shots or drilling needed, dental sealants are an easy way to give your child’s back teeth extra protection against cavities.

We understand that you want to understand all of your child’s options before proceeding. That’s why we are happy to extend complimentary second opinions. If you’ve recently gotten a treatment plan from another office that you’re not sure of, feel free to bring it by!
Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is highly effective in stopping cavities from progressing, especially in young children who may not tolerate more invasive treatments.
SDF is a simple, pain-free treatment applied directly to the decayed area, making it an ideal choice for children who are anxious about dental procedures.
The application process is fast, usually taking just a few minutes, making it a convenient solution for both parents and children.
The dentist will examine the decayed areas of your child’s teeth to determine if Silver Diamine Fluoride is an appropriate treatment option. This evaluation ensures the right course of action for halting the decay.
A small amount of Silver Diamine Fluoride is applied directly to the decayed tooth using a brush. This process is fast, completely painless, and works to stop the decay in its tracks.
After the treatment, follow-up visits will be scheduled to monitor the treated areas. Parents will also receive guidance on maintaining a proper oral hygiene routine to keep the treated teeth healthy and prevent future cavities.

While SDF can effectively halt the progression of cavities, the treated tooth may require additional treatment in the future. Regular dental checkups at our Houston office will help determine if further care is needed.
